How Orthodontics Work
Whether we are treating a child, teenager or adult, the goal of orthodontic treatment is the same — to straighten teeth, so they look and function better.
We achieve this goal using braces or clear aligners, which apply gentle pressure to your teeth to shift them into the correct position over a period of months or years.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces are made of either ceramic or metal and have long been used to straighten teeth. Recent advances in orthodontic treatment have resulted in braces that are more comfortable, low-profile, and easier to care for.
How Braces Straighten Teeth
Braces will apply continuous pressure to the teeth over a period of time, slowly and gradually moving them into their new, corrected positions.
As pressure is applied and the teeth shift, the bone will change shape to accommodate the new positions of the teeth.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign clear aligners can be used to gradually straighten your smile with a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners that are adjusted gradually.
With Invisalign, you get a convenience factor — your clear aligners are removable whenever you'd prefer no one know that you are straightening your teeth.
The aligners look similar to custom whitening trays and are easy to insert. You can even remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss!
